I guess I’ll never forget when I was standing outside my apartment, finding the door was broken open, and my stuff was rifled through. What’s worst, I have NO IDEA who done this to me!!
So, since I moved into new house, I’ve been thinking about installing a security camera to deter burglars or at least to get evidence when necessary.
This camera not only satisfies my surveillance demands, but also acts as a caretaker. It’s awesome that I can also see my doggy when I’m not home!
Hi Oliver!! I can see you from my mobile phone now.
OK, let’s see my new personal security guard.
The model name is AVN801, which is made by AVTECH.
I didn't know this brand before but its mobile application seems quite popular.
It's worth a shot.

Outlook (easy to install and light weight)
After connected the UTP cable to the router, I need to download the apps for further configuration.
The free version can be found in Android Market.

To configure from the phone is quite easy for me.
The app will guide you step by step. I just follow its suggestions and it's all done.

Besides, I found an interesting feature when I turn off the lights in the living room.
By clicking on the plus icon...
The image becomes brighter and I can even tell the time on the clock.
I swear I didn't turn on the lights!!
Another feature is called Push Video.
When the camera detects human being, it sends a push message to my Android phone for notification.
What's more interesting, when I click on the notification, it starts to play video 5 seconds before.
This is another reason why I bought this!
If a burglar breaks in, I can see him before the camera gets destroyed.
ps. After my test, I found Oliver triggers the alarm as well.
Anyway, I enjoy it as a pet cam more now.
Conclusion
Overall I am happy with this network camera because of its good picture quality and many control functions.
I'm really glad to see Oliver in Live video instead of pictures when I'm not around.
However, there seems no WiFi capability in the camera so I can only place it in my living room.

I would like to have a WiFi version installed in my backyard.
I think I saw similar camera in Maplin but I can't find it now.
This is really a cool gadget that I strongly recommend to see your pet.
A loooooot better experience than static pictures.
But be careful not to get too addicted to your phone!
:)
